Time for the Fairchild family!

Left to right: Eric, Davis, Greta, Sandy

I keep catching Eric studying. I’m not quite sure how this happened, but he was studying cleaning when I loaded up the house. Maybe he once had a want for a skill point that he lost when he was dating multiple Thayer girls?

“Yeah, I’m going to grow up soon. I can’t wait. Being a kid in an Awesome Party House kind of sucks.”

Sandy paid the taxes of $8800, spending most of their free cash. They had about $4000 left, not counting the kids’ college funds. They weren’t about to starve or anything, but it would be nice to have a little more cash.

Davis made an enormous vase in an attempt to remedy the problem.

As soon as Eric got home from school, the family headed to the store, where Davis sucked up to the reviewer. It was quite successful, earning the shop another Best of the Best award.

Eric earned his gold sales badge, so he switched to restocking while Davis dazzled.

“You really want this stupidly expensive dresser!”

“I do! I do!”

Peter, I’m so sorry you’re offended by Andrea’s mere presence in this store. Fortunately for you, she is happily married, and there is absolutely zero danger you will ever need to fend off unwanted advances from her.

The business reached level 10!

They made about $7400 this session, and the store has been quite profitable for them.

Davis headed down to the pet store and got the family a new dog! His name is Victor.

Eric’s aspiration was a little low after the trip to the store, so he invited Rufina over for a date.

Don’t let this adorable smile fool you. She has 2 nice points.

Sharla Ottomas came by and introduced herself. The Ottomas family just moved in next door to the Fairchilds.

Davis decided to take a nap while Sandy studied Physiology.

Greta was excited to meet Victor. Eric was the master of Jenny, the other dog, so it only made sense that Victor would be Greta’s dog.

Anya stopped by, and Eric spent the evening playing pool with her and Rufina.

Sharla blew bubbles with some townie until her dad showed up to fetch her home.

Aw, Victor knows what to do. As soon as Greta went to sleep, he curled up by her bed.

Sandy had a want to buy another community lot. They didn’t have the money, but then I remembered that there’s well over $100k in the Town Prosperity Fund, for housing and business loans. Somebody might as well use it, right? So Sandy took out a $15,000 loan and bought a new business.

Greta wanted to earn logic points, so she spent a little while at the chess board before school.

Sandy and Davis spent their time in money making pursuits until the kids went to school. They were hoping to pay their loan back as soon as possible.

Victor tried to destroy the Big Huge Expensive Vase. Fortunately, Davis got to him to scold him in time.

Once the kids were out the door, Sandy and Davis headed out to the new business, Clay Creations.

The store sells all the pottery Davis has made, as well as some items from the Buy catalog.

Davis Dazzled the store up to rank 3.

Since I’ve got several stores selling hand-crafted items now, I changed my hacks, so playables will now keep what they buy in inventory. They’ll lose money on anything they sell back, but I’m not going to tax the inventory items, so it’ll be like a tax break for supporting local businesses. Hopefully it will all even out.

They both had a great time on the post business date.

Sandy and Meadow have almost nothing in common, but they did manage to bond over music.

Davis made another Huge Ridiculous Expensive Vase. They really are quite profitable, as they cost $60 to make and sell for $300.

Eric brought Angie Pederson home from school. She swooned over him even though they have negative boltage.

Sandy headed off to work, hoping for a promotion. Last season she was at level 9 of her LTW career and got demoted down to level 1. She’s currently at level 3.

Aw, I love itty bitty newspaper thieves.

snapshot_5c79ffd7_4015ffcf “Hey, guys, want to come over? It’s my sister’s birthday…no, it’s not a real birthday party, it’s only 5 pm. But we’ve got a pool table and a bubble blower.”

In a strange twist of fate, Eric is the first to throw a party in Davis and Sandy’s Awesome Party House.

He got quite a nice selection of Willow Valley teens to show up.

That’s kind of weird, Jenny was only pregnant for about a day.

snapshot_5c79ffd7_c0160150Jenny had four puppies! I don’t think I’ve ever had four before. One girl and three boys, and they all look the same for now. I named the girl Lulu, and the boys Barker, Nugget, and JuJu. (I was in a weird mood, okay?)

Chance card promotion! Sandy was very excited to get home early, because she’d thought she was going to miss Greta’s birthday. Her youngest was about to become a teenager, which meant no more dependent children. It was an exciting moment.

Sandy is hot! Eric and Sevastian are Popularity sims! (Meadow’s not, so I’m not sure why she gets a thought bubble.)

Greta became a Fortune/Pleasure sim, with a LTW to become The Law. And she desperately needed a makeover.

Sandy got the task of bringing all the puppies up onto the porch. They got some soft pillows out there since there isn’t space inside for 4 more dog beds, not without some serious rearrangement. It’s spring, so it should be fine.

Post makeover, Greta is gorgeous.

She didn’t like her makeover, but I don’t care. She’s stuck.

Meanwhile, the party kind of moved downstairs. I think Eric wanted some private time with Rufina, but got followed by sims wanting to play red hands, tell jokes, and Hang Loose.

Sandy got distracted with the last puppy, and Brandon swooped in to pick up the little guy (Barker, I think).

Congratulations, Brandon, you just got yourself a puppy.

Normally I keep the puppies until they grow up to see what they look like, but not this time. Not when there are four of them. I think puppies go into the adoption pool when they’re given away to townies, anyway, so it might be easier for another family to get Barker than it would if he were a stray.

Apparently Eric and Rufina decided they weren’t waiting anymore, and never mind if her sister and cousin were in the room.

This is probably also why the party was a Roof Raiser.

“You’re really hot. You can definitely be a movie star someday.”

“Thanks, babe! You’re definitely hot enough to be a movie star’s girlfriend.”

Aw, cute puppies. Hopefully they’ll grow up to be unique and interesting looking.

In the morning, Sandy headed off to work after a date to get her platinum.

Rufina came over for a date, because apparently Eric needs daily dates to keep him happy.

Greta really took her dog ownership seriously, to the point of being impaled by the door while she bathed Victor.

You’re very lucky, Rufina. If your house didn’t already have eleven sims and two cats, you’d totally be getting a puppy.

Davis was chained to the pottery wheel until he was stinking and exhausted.

Greta invited Artur over to make friends with him properly.

Sandy came home with a promotion and went right back to work.

Greta actually managed to catch two of the puppies in time to get them outside to pee! Usually they just end up going in the house until they grow up.

Another promotion! Sandy is at level 6 now.

David Ottomas stopped by and played pool with Eric and Rufina.

Greta got her first kiss with Artur and had a dream date. Despite completely refusing to roll up the First Kiss want.

After an outing and a date, Greta wasn’t at all tired, so she stayed up way after everyone else had gone to bed learning to play the guitar.

She also spent some time teaching Victor to Stay.

Eric wanted spaghetti for breakfast. Who was I to tell him no?

Ah, sibling bonding. Oddly, Greta’s the one with more nice points here – she’s got two to Eric’s one.

Taking the puppies out to potty is such a pain – and now that they’ve been praised for peeing outside, they go to the porch and whine until someone takes them out. *sigh*

Davis and Sandy took Greta down to the store. I love having Fortune teens help out at businesses. Greta got her gold sales badge and tons of aspiration points.

They also managed to get the shelves fully stocked. They still have $10,000 worth of loan to pay back, but I figure they’ll earn money faster if they’ve got plenty of stock to sell.

They stayed a little longer than usual to get the business to Rank 5, so Sandy could get the aspiration points. The shop had become marginally profitable by the time they closed it down.

snapshot_5c79ffd7_c017a889Everyone got some energizer time in before they headed home.

The Cooke-Pavlovs came over for Family Sunday. David Ottomas was also invited, because Eric wanted to make friends with him.

Aw, so cute. They made best friends right after this.

Sandy got a promotion and brought home Ryan Wheeler. Then she went back to work an hour later.

I love chaining promotions, even if it does mean the sim in question doesn’t get much time at home for a few days.

Denise did this right after Eric punched Jake a little too hard.

“Hey, you got something on your shirt…dork. That’s what you get for being mean to my brother.”

Eric wanted to have a party. He was only allowed to invite two extra people, so he invited Devan and Rufina, but Rufina didn’t show up for some reason.

Anyway, the party got up to Good Time pretty much as soon as it started.

This might have had something to do with that.

Zinaida came strolling by, so Eric greeted her, and…three bolts! Ok, one of those is the Massive Attraction perk from his Romance secondary, but still. Three bolt chemistry is fairly rare in my game. And it’s especially impressive considering Fortune and Popularity are supposed to repel each other.

I’m glad I didn’t have Zinaida go steady with Dustin Cooke, even though he had the want for it.

Also, Sandy got promoted. Level 8!

Um. What?

I promise Sandy was not engaging in any hanky-panky with Ryan. I have no idea how he ended up in his PJs.

Between the store and Sandy’s two promotion bonuses, she was able to pay off the loan! It ended up costing them $200 in interest – not a bad deal at all.

College fund contributions are always appreciated.

(The fountain is from Eva, who went on an outing with Greta during Family Sunday.)

After 3 days of working 10 pm to 2 am, Davis finished his long, hard work week as a Professional Party Guest.

Teens who go on multiple outings during the day don’t sleep at night.

But oh, how I love neat freak sims who spend their free time cleaning the bathroom.

Davis was left alone while everyone else went to work and school. He spent pretty much the last of their money on private school fees, so whatever renovation’s to be done this season will depend on what Sandy brings home.

School friends, hooray! Greta brought home David Ottomas, and Eric brought Nikifor Pavlov. The teens both went on outings with their new friends.

Sandy got promoted to level 9! And…she doesn’t go back until Thursday. It’s Monday. She’s had a terrible time with her LTW career – but hey, at least she didn’t get demoted this time.

They didn’t have enough money for what I wanted to do for Reno Day, so they just got some railings on the front and back porches.

No one was really hungry, but Eric got aspiration points for making chili.

Greta rocked out on the guitar until about 2 in the morning. Sleep? Who needs sleep?

Davis worked on his pool playing. One of these days someone will get that elusive pool scholarship.

Davis and Sandy went on a date, to console Sandy for not getting her LTW until next season.

And then I tried out closet woohoo. It’s weird, and I don’t think I like it. Although it would probably be a little less weird if they were in their own closet instead of in Greta’s room. (She was still out on the guitar, in case anyone was wondering.)

That’s it for the Fairchilds! The Bendetts are next.

It’s time to move on to the Fairchild family, where their philosophy in life is a little different.

Left to right: Davis, Greta, Sandy, Eric

The family picked up a dog at the pet store during the break. I named her Jenny.

snapshot_5c79ffd7_9e901d88 The family didn’t quite have enough money to pay their taxes, so Davis wrote a Restaurant Guide, highly recommending his father’s restaurant for the discerning diner.

“Cooked to Perfection is, by far, the best restaurant in Willow Valley!”

Yes, it is, because it’s the only restaurant in Willow Valley.

Sandy spent the morning working hard on her skills. She was confident she could achieve her LTW to be a Celebrity Chef pretty soon.

Since it was Saturday, the kids just hung out having fun.

The Fairchilds have a great party house, but there’s not really that much for kids to do.

“It was a huge bird. The biggest I ever saw.”

Davis and Sandy went down to their store, Sleep Soft, for a few hours. Still level 8, but they did make a few thousand dollars.

Back home, the kids had some friends over – Josiah Gavigan and Sevastian and Rufina Thayer.

Pau Picaso also stopped by as Sandy headed to work – late, because I forgot about her on the candy machine.

Poor Sandy. I don’t remember her being late before, but apparently she was. The pop-up said she got fired, but she actually got demoted to level 1. From level 9. Of her LTW career. 😦

Eric wanted to earn a cooking point, so he asked his uncle James to teach him.

snapshot_5c79ffd7_1e9027f8“Pew, pew!”

“Augh! You got me!”

snapshot_5c79ffd7_3e90284c“Hey, James, can you watch the kids for an hour until Sandy gets home?”

“No, bro, I’ve got to go home.”

Well, I guess Davis is taking a vacation day, then. I’m not risking sending him in late.

Poor Sandy.

She didn’t get promoted to level 2, either, so she’ll have to wait until tomorrow.

Eric is an industrial little guy, always rolling wants to earn skill points or do skilling activities.

Greta much preferred to spend her time talking on the phone.

The Bendetts came over for family Sunday.

It’s really good for the kids to get to know this set of cousins, because Eric and Devan are exactly the same age, while Greta is the same age as Kat and Drina.

Devan and Eric are both mean little suckers, and had a great time cheating each other at chess.

“Chess puzzles me.”

“Don’t worry, cousin, Eric and I can teach you. Heh heh heh.”

“What was that?”

“Oh, nothing.”

After everyone left, Greta surprised me by rolling some skilling wants of her own. So the kids spent some quiet time on the couch before bed.

(The Fairchilds are doing Minimal Skilling – the kids only skill if they roll the want or do it spontaneously. They won’t get as many scholarships this way, but they’ll have more fun – unless, of course, they spend all their time rolling up skilling wants.)

Level 2…well, it’s progress, anyway.

Davis and Sandy were up early. Sandy worked on maxing her cooking, wanting to be fully prepared when she got back to the top of the career ladder. Davis was on a quest for a gold pottery badge.

“Bye, Mom! See you later!”

Greta was very excited for her first day of school.

Davis and Sandy went down to the store for a little while, then returned to the phone and the candy machine.

Rufina Thayer came home on the bus. Which is great, but it would have been nice if they could have brought home a kid they weren’t both already friends with.

Ah, well, birthday time!

I guess all those skill wants were just kid stuff, because Eric became a Popularity/Romance sim. He wants to be a Professional Party Guest like his dad.

A makeover can wait, because fellow Popularity sim Anthony Thayer was strolling by the house right before Eric’s birthday.

Now Sandy needs a hobby.

Since everyone else had gone to bed, Eric figured he might as well clear that locked skill want from his childhood.

In the morning, Davis taught Greta to study while Eric burned breakfast.

Off to school!

“Hopefully I can convince a hot chick to come home on the bus with me.”

Poor Eric knows no teenage girls. Not a single one, not even his cousins.

Alas, no hot chicks today, although he did get a +1,000 from Lluis.

Off to the store, which got up to level 9.

“Young man, do you know where I might purchase an extremely expensive dresser?”

“Grandpa, don’t you recognize me?”

“Why, Eric! You’ve grown up!”

Greta was excited to earn an A+ on only her second day of school.

Greta was on the phone once again as Sandy headed off to work.

It’s definitely odd that Davis is a Professional Party Guest (who hasn’t gone to work all season), while Sandy’s still working fast food. Stupid demotion.

Davis did a great job with the dad thing while Sandy was gone. He supervised Eric’s homework (while calling a friend on the phone)…

And procured a delicious hot meal.

“And Rufina said her family’s going on vacation to the mountains, and going skiing!”

“Greta, I think your friend is telling tales.”

Sandy got home with a promotion after everyone else had gone to bed. Well, level 3 was better than level 1, at least.

The next day, Davis and Sandy had the day off. They had a lovely date while the kids were at school.

Eric was finally successful in bringing a hot chick home from school. Anya’s Romance, and Eric needed an aspiration boost…

Reno day! They got a rail around the stairs to bring the house up to code…

And a new big screen TV!

The house is getting pretty cool, but they’ve still got a ways to go to make it the most awesome party house in town.

Finally, Davis succeeded in earning his gold pottery badge.

Adam Carr came by, so Eric stopped him and made friends with him.

The kids got in a bit of skilling before bed.

(No, Eric’s not rolling skill wants anymore. But gosh darn it, he was just one point away from a scholarship.)

Davis made a really huge vase with his gold badge. I feel like a gold pottery badge ought to be worth more…but I guess it is a fairly expensive huge vase.

Greta went to bed and hadn’t done her homework, and I didn’t want to leave it and risk missing it next season, so I made Eric do it for her. I’m such a slave driver.

“I don’t mind. It’s super easy.”

Eric has 3 skill scholarships, but is apparently planning on taking the outing gifts route to round out his college fund.

That’s it for the Fairchilds! Next is the Bendett family.

Family: Fairchild

Business: Sleep Soft, Rank 9

General fund contribution: $10,800 (taxes $7800, school fees $3000)

Playable sims: 96

Sim multiplier: 44

Population: 4224

It’s time for the Fairchild family!

Left to right: Sandy holding Eric, Davis holding Greta

The Fairchilds spent last season saving up to get out of their little 2 bedroom 1 bath starter, and managed to purchase this lovely house.

The house is a bit under furnished at the moment, but they’ve got everything they need. And Sandy has a zebra room!

(I decided to try my hand at playing with split levels, and it seems to have worked fairly well.)

Eric needed an aspiration boost, so Sandy taught him a nursery rhyme right there on the sidewalk.

The family was out of money after buying and furnishing the house, so they headed off to Sleep Soft, the family business.

Best of the Best Award!

It was just the two of them, so Davis mostly restocked and didn’t have time to do many sales. Still, they were quite successful in the 24 hours they were there, getting the store up to level 7 and making about $15,000 in profit.

Back home, Sandy amused herself on an outing with a walkby, gossiping about how Leo Pavlov once burned some food.

Eric seemed happy enough playing with his bunny head.

Sandy headed off to work in the afternoon, leaving Davis with the kids. He didn’t mind much, even when it was time to change Greta’s diaper.

“Yummy blocks! Taste much better than bunny ear.”

Yes, Eric got his 8 charisma points, earning him a college scholarship, and has moved on to the block table.

“Mwahahaha! I shall torment these sims who just moved in by stealing their newspaper, thus depriving them of the walk to throw it in the trash can!”

Sandy got home with a chance card promotion, hooray!

But…now she has 3 days off. And Davis is on his first of 4 days off. Boo.

Thanks to the money from the business and Sandy’s promotion bonus, Davis was able to pay the taxes of $6800 as well as establish a $10,000 college fund for Eric. Greta still needs her college fund, though, and Davis and Sandy still don’t have their bubble blower, so they’ll have to come up with something to get some extra cash.

Sandy really loved her zebra room. It almost made studying for work bearable.

That evening, it was time for Eric’s birthday! Yes, even though he was tired.

Eric’s still a clone of his dad, but we’ll forgive him since he’s adorable.

“I have to study for work, but what are you doing with that book, Eric?”

“I want to be super ready for my first day of school!”

“That’s strange, but whatever.”

What a perfect gift for Davis and Sandy! It’ll fit in quite well in the basement, which is eventually going to be the party room.

Eric was so excited about his first day of school that he ran for the bus.

(No, he’s not late, he’s just one of those kids that runs everywhere. And he’s in public school, because families aren’t allowed to enroll kids in private school until all kids have college funds. Greta still doesn’t have one, so public school it is.)

Since he and Sandy both had days off, with no money coming in, Davis decided to head down to his dad’s club to see if he could earn some tips. Some other sims joined him in an impromptu jam session, but they were terrible. Still, he made $300 in tips.

Sandy and Davis were just having a nice date on their front porch, as people do, when Madelina came along and stole the newspaper! Yeesh.

Eric brought Isaiah Gavigan home from school. They had a great time hanging out until 6, when Isaiah had to go home.

That night, it was birthday time for Greta! Sandy was quite excited, as Greta becoming a toddler meant she could be potty trained.

Unfortunately, the cake glitched, so Davis ended up tossing her while Sandy obliviously ate her birthday cake.

Greta is very cute. She still mostly looks like Davis, but she did get Sandy’s eyes.

Post makeover – she just seemed like a kid who shouldn’t have a ton of hair.

I was really hoping she would get Sandy’s nose, but oh well. That face 1 nose just won’t quit.

“And that’s how you solve for x…wait, why are you doing algebra in kindergarten?”

Ah, the block table. Yes, I abuse it shamelessly to get siblings to be friends with each other. Very important for these two, since they don’t have any spare siblings to be alternate friends.

After Eric went to school, Sandy spent the day working on her OTH of Games.

Davis spent much of the day spoiling Greta. She’s definitely a daddy’s girl.

Davis and Sandy went on a date in the afternoon. They go on at least a date a day.

Eric brought Rufina Thayer home from school. He’s quite popular, it seems.

“And I heard in private school, you get your own desks! We have to share in public school.”

“Well, why don’t your parents just get $50,000 bonuses at work? Then you could go to private school too.”

Ah, rich kids. They just don’t get it.

Eric discovered that his OTH is sports. Darn it, that one’s boring.

Nursery rhyme time! Greta’s OTH turns out to be Music & Dance, just like Davis. No wonder she’s such a Daddy’s girl. (The fact that Greta and Davis have the exact same personality probably doesn’t hurt.)

Eric finally got a new outfit and got rid of the pink jeans. His family might not be super rich, but they’re certainly well off enough that they can afford new clothes.

I really wanted the family have enough for Greta’s college fund by her birthday, so Davis and Sandy went down to Sleep Soft to earn some cash.

Pregnant lady invasion!

The store got up to level 8, and Sandy got a $10,000 bonus with her perk!

(Most of the time I roll a die for their perks, so it’s luck if they get the cash.)

Davis and Sandy brought home over $20,000 from the business, giving them more than enough to fund Greta’s college account with $10,000. That means Eric can be in private school!

Davis and Sandy spent the day going on outings with walkbys.  Sandy can’t stop talking about that time Leo burned dinner.

Greta took a nap on her pink mat, in her pink room, while wearing a pink dress.

Eric didn’t bring a friend home, so he called up Rufina to chat.

Kylie came by for dinner. She was rather shocked that Eric thought aliens weren’t real.

Greta finally got the want to learn to walk. Davis was happy to teach her.

The outings paid off!

Sandy maxed her games enthusiasm, just before heading off to work.

Davis spent the day home with Greta, working on his pottery. He earned a silver badge.

Sandy and Eric got home at the same time, and Sandy got a promotion.

Eric was soon back on the phone.

At 6 pm, it was birthday time!

Greta’s a cutie, and I think she has Sandy’s mouth in addition to her eyes.

Makeover! Greta cheered, so I guess that means she doesn’t mind all the pink girly stuff.

Sandy needed tons of skill points for work – I think she’s at level 9. So she spent the rest of the evening rocking out.

“You’re big now, so that means you can play chess!”

“Really? That sounds like so much fun! Can we play tonight?”

“Nah, I have to go to bed.”

Davis headed off for his Friday night party, swooning over the limo driver.

Davis and Sandy are rather hands off parents.

(Since their goal has been to have a great party house, I got them a bar, bubble blower, and pool table as an end of rotation present.)

She grew up in those pink pajamas all on her own.

That’s it for the Fairchild family! Next up is the Bendetts.

Family: Fairchild

Business: Sleep Soft, Rank 8

Town fund contribution: $22,400 (taxes $6800, levy $13,600, school fees $2,000)

(They didn’t quite have enough money to pay the extra $5,000 for their $10,000 windfall, but that’s fine as it’s optional.)

Playable sims: 81

Sim multiplier: 38

Population: 3078

We’re into the final stretch of the rotation now, with only 3 households to go!

Sandy and Davis

Sandy is a Romance sim and Davis is a Pleasure sim, so this household is a bit of a departure from my norm.

Last rotation they spent their money establishing their business, so they still live in a little 2 bedroom starter. This season, though, they’ll be saving up for a house big enough to have parties and bubble blowers and such.

Whenever she could take a break from keeping her needs up, Sandy worked on getting skills for her job. She was determined that, baby or no, she would be a Celebrity Chef one day.

Davis headed to work, leaving Sandy alone for a few hours.

She used the time to crunch up on the loveseat and snooze, until it was time for her to waddle off to work.

Yes, it’s a tight fit, but couch naps are just better.

They both came home with promotions. Sandy hadn’t had enough couch napping, so she promptly headed to bed.

I love this painting. I especially like to hang it up in baby nurseries.

While Davis was on an outing with a walkby, one of the neighborhood teens jogged by.

(I love having a busy neighborhood with lots of playable walkbys.)

Davis wanted to max his Arts & Crafts enthusiasm, and was bored with painting, so he got a pottery wheel.

Early in the rotation, Sandy had bought an awesome zebra striped living chair. It was her favorite chair, and she sat in it whenever she had a chance. It certainly didn’t hurt that it was very comfortable, which was important as the baby got bigger and bigger.

Davis returned home with another promotion. All the money from both their salaries went into savings for a new house.

Aside from the constant hunger and the need to sit in her favorite chair a lot, this pregnancy thing wasn’t too terrible. Sandy had even begin to warm toward the idea of having a baby. She’d love a little girl that she could do hair and makeup with, but a boy would be good, too. Either way, she could teach the little one to play chess, and Davis could teach the guitar…maybe this would turn out to be a good thing.

Sandy had just finished her burger when the labor pains struck.

“Ohmigosh! We’re having a baby!”

“WE’RE having a baby? I’M having a baby, dunderhead!”

After a few minutes, Sandy held her son Eric. He had Davis’ coloring and was absolutely adorable.

The empty back bedroom had previously been decorated in red, but Sandy and Davis redecorated in blue for little Eric.

“Hey, Dad, guess what? We had a baby!”

Eric had the good taste to be born on Sunday morning, just in time for family Sunday. The main Cooke household was invited over, and everyone made it but James.

Sandy met everyone quickly, but then had to excuse herself and do more skilling for work.

Julien won the granddad sprint for the baby.

By the time she’d gotten all her skill points, Sandy was a little late for work, but at least she made it in.

Davis spent the afternoon getting to know his brother-in-law.

“Hey, Dad, could you watch Eric for a bit while Sandy and I go open up our shop?”

“I’d love to, son!”

I really love this babysitting hack.

Huh. I didn’t know Davis was an OCD window washer. He only has 7 neat points.

“I need a bed! Please help me! Which section has the beds?”

In a 24 hour stint, Sleep Soft got up to level 6, and they made about $20,000. Who knew the furniture business was so lucrative?

“Who’s Daddy’s little Eric?”

Eric was just wonderful, and Davis wondered if he could talk Sandy into having a second baby. But he’d known she was a Romance sim when he married her, and he’d promised himself he wouldn’t pressure her about more kids. If it happened, it happened.

This wasn’t so bad, Sandy decided; even the dirty diapers weren’t so bad. But would Eric be lonely growing up? Maybe she should think about having another one, so Eric would have a brother or sister to play with.

They were both very busy, keeping up friendships and skills for work.

“Armando, how would you like to play with your grandson for a few hours while I finish studying and go to work?”

“Sure, why not?”

Despite this picture, Eric was generally quite well cared for – even if he did spend a fair amount of time on the floor. Sims don’t seem to ever put babies down on blankets autonomously.

Frequently, Davis or Sandy would return from work with a promotion, then turn around and go right back for another shift.

Monday night, when Sandy returned home…

She hadn’t had any morning sickness at all, so her pregnancy came as something of a surprise.

“Do you still think I’m beautiful, even though I’m all huge and pregnant?”

“Baby, you’re the most beautiful thing I’ve ever laid eyes on.”

Soon it was time for Eric’s first birthday!

Eric looked like he was going to be the spitting image of his father.

Sandy was famished, so she scarfed down two huge slices of cake while Davis fed Eric his smart milk and put him to bed.

“Yes, you’re such a strong boy, aren’t you?”

Sandy had fun fixing up Eric’s hair, too – but he still looked like a mini Davis.

Finally, Eric took his nap, and Sandy was able to have some fun. Hopefully, when she had the new baby, the kids would be able to keep each other company.

After 4 days of seemingly nothing but work, Davis was promoted to Professional Party Guest! Not only did he now have the best job ever, but a position in Show Business was opened.

Sandy was excited – only one more day until she was done with pregnancy forever! A second baby would be fine, good even, but there was no way she was having a third, so as soon as the baby was born she planned to go on birth control.

Davis spent a lot of his free time making pottery.

Sandy and Davis still managed to find time together. Davis loved to dance, so they would often spend time just swaying together.

Eric was a smart little boy, and learned to talk quickly.

Davis maxed his Arts & Crafts enthusiasm!

“So, how’s the bank account coming?”

“Great! We’ve got about $50,000. We should definitely be able to build an awesome house at the end of the season.”

“That’s terrific. There’s just no room here to throw parties, you know?”

Friday afternoon, Sandy met Sinjin walking by. Sinjin said he would drop a line to her boss to give her a raise!

“No! I don’t want to have my baby on the sidewalk!”

“Sandy! It’s dark out here!”

Sandy was thrilled to give birth to a baby girl. Little Greta rounded out the family perfectly.

“Here, Davis, hold your daughter. I’ve got an outing to finish.”

“Who’s Daddy’s cute little girl? You are, yes you are!”

After her outing, Sandy fed Greta a bottle while Davis gave Eric his bath. The whole thing was almost painfully domestic. Sandy vowed that next season, she would have more fun.

That’s it for the Fairchild family! Next up is the Bendetts.

The next to last household of Spring 3 is Davis Cooke.

Davis is a Pleasure/Family sim who wants to top the Slacker career. Fortunately, there’s a position open thanks to Aglaya Hamilton’s internet cafe.

With so many move outs the last couple of seasons, I’ve had to add a couple more starter homes. I like this one. Like the others, it’s 2 bedrooms and 1 bath on a 2×2 lot.

Davis hit the jackpot with the jobs listings: there was a position in Slacker, and the car pool rolled up about 20 minutes after he took the job.

Davis came home with a promotion and found a housewarming gift on the lawn!

First thing after getting home, Davis called over his girl Sandy, who arrived fresh from work.

After a nice date, Sandy agreed to move in.

Then she was quite happy to help Davis break in the couch.

Sandy is a Romance/Fortune sim with a LTW to top Culinary. She brought in 14k in cash and another 10k in inventory items, giving her quite enough cash to purchase a business.

The new business, called Sleep Soft, sold comfy beds and would eventually add dressers.

After Sandy fixed up her hair and makeup, she and Davis went on a quick date before opening up the store.

Sandy sold beds like crazy, eventually gaining a gold sales badge, and they were able to fill out the store with dressers. By the time they headed home, Sleep Soft was up to a respectable Level 4.

Back home, Sandy got some new clothes.

“I’m not sure I should be doing this…but will you marry me?”

I do have a tendency to marry off Romance sims – if they don’t have a “20” LTW, and as long as one member of the couple has the want. I had the want to get engaged by Davis locked for a while until Sandy didn’t have the fear.

No red rings. I think that’s a good sign.

Since Culinary hadn’t shown up yet, Sandy headed off for another day as a Business shill.

Davis had 3 days off in a row, leaving him with little to do except hang around the house painting a portrait of his fiance. He was cool with that plan.

Sandy came home with a promotion! Davis and Sandy decided they were going to save up for a couple of seasons, so they could buy a sweet party pad with plenty of places to woohoo as well as fun stuff like a bubble blower and a bar.

Sandy and Davis celebrated the end of the workday with a date.

Sandy didn’t have a fear of marriage after the date, and Davis had the want, so they exchanged rings, with Davis becoming Mr. Fairchild.

The next day consisted of more painting.

Portraits finished! They’re asymmetric, but eh.

Sandy searched the job listings and found her desired job in Culinary! This gave her the day off.

She celebrated with a nap.

It was so nice being off with Davis. Plenty of time for fun that way.

The fun was interrupted when Sandy suddenly felt sick to her stomach and had to rush to the bathroom. Could she be pregnant? That had not been in the plan.

While Davis slept peacefully, Sandy stayed awake and contemplated. She was a Romance sim; she wasn’t meant to be a mother. At least there could be no doubt that Davis was the father. Not that she had any compunctions about woohooing with others, but she’d hate to have to tell Davis she was carrying another man’s child.

She managed to get only a little sleep, and was woken up from her catnap by her first pop.

“Yes, sweetie?”

“We’re having a baby.”

“That’s great!” Davis frowned. “I mean, if you’re okay with it. I know you didn’t really want kids.”

Sandy sighed. “I suppose I’m all right with one.”

“Davis, do you think we’re getting too domestic?” Sandy asked as she ate her breakfast toaster pastry. After all, she was married with a baby on the way, a position she never would have pictured herself in.

“No, Sandy,” Davis said from the easel. “We can still party and have lots of fun. One baby won’t ruin that.”

Sandy wasn’t about to miss her first day in her dream career on account of this darn baby, so she headed off in her underwear.

She returned only a couple of hours later with a double promotion – one by chance card, and one by networking. I didn’t know that was possible, but I’m not complaining.

Davis, sadly, was not so lucky, as he was demoted for playing video games on his lunch break.

That’s it for the Fairchild household! Only one household to go in the season!
